HISTORICAL OVERVIEW:

History tells of many Cultures, Traditions and Legends repeating oft the Tale of the ANGELS. Although names and forms vary slightly, the overall impression remains. A number of RELIGIONS know full well their version.

 

 

Shiro tends to be inclined to place this RACE…

as a MUTANT FORM…

caused by/or something similar to that of the DINOSAURS and GIANTS.

 

This divine or not,.. Civilisation has long been erased from our sight.

 

 

Only the mystery and tantalising scraps of evidence behold their Legacy left now.

The precise ORIGIN is unclear… though some have their preference indeed. The Ancient LEGENDS and Records indicate a World-Wide Cataclysm of some nature, followed by various LEADERS and so forth emerging… from.?. then aiding the dispirited populace in many forms and ways.

Not NATIVE it seems, many travelled far and fast, connected to the skies above.

Some were allies… some,.. not so much it seems.

 

LEAVING A LEGACY.

 

 

Effectively taking control of some of the larger populated areas,.. they endeavoured to initiate and instruct social, political, cultural, technical and religious changes, usually wide-ranging in scope and action.

LEGENDS.

By designing and encouraging regrowth of the civilisation remaining, they imparted much of KNOWLEDGE.

A LEGACY OF KNOWLEDGE was thus endowed on many peoples.

 

Yanagawa Shigenobu: Shanao (Yoshitsune) and the Tengu King.

 

IN JAPAN… SUCH IS THE LEGACY OF THE NINJA.

 WHAT’s BEHIND
 A NINJA MASK.?.

For beyond what is known of the NINJA’s recent history lies the enigma of a LEGEND.

 

The history of the NINJA begins

with a race of unknown WARRIORS.

The history of the NINJA begins with

the LEGEND OF THE TENGU.

 

 

 TRAINED BY TENGU.

 

TENGU (tiangou CH.) as noted in Wikipedia have been mentioned

in the literature as far back as the 8th century. Weapon Training

Scrolls such as the DENSHO “Saburi ryu Sojutsu”  prominently

 

display  TENGU training/teaching with the NINJA.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The other main source of our TENGU knowledge are the classic JAPANESE Woodblock Prints- Known as“UKIYOE”.

These portray scenes, many martial in character with superb detail and stunning realism.

Artists such as Kuniyoshi   Utagawa(1797-1861) and  Yoshitoshi Tsukioka(1839-1892) produced many such scenes which feature the TENGU:

e.g. The training of Minamoto Yoshitsune, the renowned Samurai General of Kurama Temple/Mt. north of Kyoto, by the Great TENGU  SOJOBO;

Yoshitsune’s famous duel with the Warrior-Monk Benkei on Gojo Bridge;

the meeting of Master Swordsman Kobayakawa Takakage with the TENGU of  Mt. Hiko on the Island of Kyushu;

and the training of Martial Arts Master Tsukahara Bokuden by the TENGU SwordMaster  HINAMARU ENKAI of Mt.Haguro.

Tsukioka Yoshitoshi: Ushiwaka Maru (Yoshitsune) learns the martial arts from Sojobo, king of the Tengu – The Art of Japan.

SHAMANIC SHINOBI SENSEI.

 

… TENGU KING… GO INDEED.

 

Overtly SHAMANISTIC in appearance, portrayed with wings,  bird like features beak/nose etc yet human in form. They inhabited the  outback mountainous regions of ancient JAPANkeeping them safe/inaccessible from/to the SAMURAI standing armies of the time.

Often referred to as  ” the mountain guardians/demon/priest/ghost” etc.

Highly skilled in BUDO (the arts of WAR) and various other LIFE skills.

Prominent Trees in these regions were often named as “Tengu no Tomarigi”= trees of TENGU SPIRIT and were NEVER to be cut down.

The regions they lived in were known as “Tengudo”

Characterised in LEGEND as ” playfully mischievous ” sometimes benevolent, sometimes not: much of the unexplainable was attributed to their actions( even now JAP. mothers use the TENGU as a “bogey man” for wayward children).

With wings and windswept hair; flight, teleportation, shamanic capabilities, novel physical and mental skills all adding to the LEGEND passed down to the student of the NINJA.

 

TENGU TRAVELS.

 

 

Moving on to the Origins of the TENGU one is led THRU the olden lands of China, Tibet, India, SE Asia and the like though none seemed to claim a HOME for  them.

So from “where” do they come…and “who” are they..?

 

With no real clues-all i could think of; is,

” what’s in a NAME..? ”     …and soon/sure  enough-

I was knocking on  HEAVEN’s DOOR.

 

Checking the dictionary entries…TWICE…i found that:

 

Totoya Hokkei: Yamamba Watching Her Son Kintaro Shake Tengu from a Tree, left panel of a diptych Spring in the Mountains (Haru no yamamata).

 

TEN= the HEAVENS & GU= a CREATURE … so a TENGU IS A…WINGED WARRIOR CREATURE FROM HEAVEN…

…akin to an Arch-ANGEL  perhaps..?    OR SHOULD THAT BE…FALLEN ANGEL?

 

Many of Our World Legends… include Angels indeed. By any name that is.

 

The LEGEND of the Fallen Angels is quite well known in many places worldwide.

Though often given differing names these Angels are consistently mentioned in several major Religions–Fallen Angels/Djinn/Genies/Watchers/Angwusi/Neter/Igigi/Rebel Angels/Guayota/Garuda/Al-jann/Grigori/Nefilim/Kachina and so forth.

Mentioned in such as THE KUTHA TABLETS,THE BOOK OF GIANTS and THE BOOK OF ENOCH.

Fallen.

 

 

The threads of this Race and civilisation cover much of our EARTH according to Religious and other records. Their dispersal around the Globe appears explained by large scale cataclysms.

Though there was much destruction and loss of life-the records state that a number of safe havens

were reached &  established.    

 

The  Kutha Tablets for example in it’s “LEGEND OF CREATION”  originally recorded in the Chaldean/Babylonian city of Kutha at the Temple of Sitlam in the Sanctuary of the GOD NERGAL tell of a Race of Warrior Demons; of –

 

“ Men with the bodies of birds of the desert, human beings with the faces of ravens, these the GREAT GODS CREATED, and in the EARTH the GODS created for them a dwelling. TIAMAT gave unto them strength, their life, the MISTRESS OF THE GODS raised. In the midst of the EARTH they grew up and became GREAT and increased their number.

Seven KINGS, brothers of the same family, six thousand were there people “. (emphasis  added)

 

 

 

In addition to the previous intel/info i also note:

THE ONLY RACE CREATED BY THESE GODS.

 A LIL SLICE OF HEAVEN.

–FOR… These Heavenly Creatures grew up

whilst THE BOOK OF ENOCH tells THIS:

has taught…upon EARTH and has disclosed to the world
